James Tomasek—Basket Making
I have been making baskets for over forty years. I am inspired by historic white oak baskets made throughout the Appalachian mountains. I also enjoy interpreting the craft and educating visitors about different materials and weaving techniques used by different cultures. I worked for 34 years as a park ranger at Fort Necessity National Battlefield and Friendship Hill National Historic Site in Western Pennsylvania. I am honored to be a member of the Spruce Forest Artisan Village where I can share my skills with visitors and interpret the historic Braddock and National Road corridors. My email address is jrt.1968@yahoo.com. Summer studio hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5pm.
