How Do Things Look Down The Road?

THE PATH TO REBUILDING

The future is bright and we’re making progress every day! But we did sustain massive damage from the storm:

  • A micro-burst storm hit the village on the morning of April 8th, 2020 resulting in over 50 downed/damaged trees

  • Several trees had to be removed because they would not stand without the support of the trees around them

  • 4 buildings and the Covered Bridge Entrance were damaged beyond repair

  • 5 other buildings sustained damage, including the public restrooms

From Planning...

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • The Master Plan has been developed in coordination with Penn Alps Inc. and Green Space, Inc. This summer and fall will include a lot of activity. First, the Penn Alps parking lot will be widened, which will accommodate an easier flow for the restaurant and parking. An imprinted walkway across the parking lot will lead the way to the entrance of Spruce Forest. A new covered bridge will mark the entrance as well as more trees planted along the parking lot, and a dry creek bed under the bridge. After all this is done, new walkways will be done as well as brick areas where donation bricks will be placed.

  • We have retained Greenscapes to produce a master site plan for the village. And we have not finalized the plan yet, but it will certainly have spruce trees to replant the forest.

  • We have some very exciting ideas for future construction.

  • Spruce Forest Artisan Village is engaged in the fundraising side to support the reconstruction effort.

To Building and Planting

We have some very exciting ideas for future construction, and we’ve laid the groundwork for new plantings and construction in the mean time.

  • Byco repaired and replaced utilities, did earthwork, and seeded the lot.

  • The damaged/downed trees were removed by Randy Broadwater.

  • Stumps were removed by Keystone Lime.

To Back In Business!

We have not finalized the plan yet but it will certainly have spruce trees to replant the forest.

  • Spruce Forest Artisan Village and Penn Alps Restaurant have reopened and we encourage all to come out and support the artisans and the restaurant through their patronage.
